KATI

How I work

  • I work one-on-one with people who want their homes to feel calmer, clearer, and more supportive of their lives.

  • My approach is gentle, practical, and deeply respectful of pace, capacity, and real life.

  • This work isn’t about perfection — it’s about creating space that truly supports you.

I help people declutter and organize their homes so they have more room for joy and leave behind what no longer serves them.

“It was a relief to have Kati's assistance with unburdening all the stuff and clutter that had taken over my life in recent years. Her gentle and kind spirit, as well as her ease and sense of humor, made it feel as though I was just going through my piles of stuff with a close friend.”

Creativity and organization are my happy place.

Since I was very young, I have loved art and expressing myself creatively with my hands: drawing, painting, crafting, weaving, sewing, pottery, baking, cooking, and gardening. Somehow, there is such power in using my hands to make something and seeing and feeling (!) the before and after. It’s a very similar satisfaction when decluttering and organizing someone’s home with them. It’s magic because not just the space is different than it was before, but my client is as well.

A life-changing a-ha moment

It took me moving across the ocean from Berlin (Germany) to New York City (USA) with a container full of things to slowly realize that most of my belongings were burdening and draining my life. Although I was great at keeping everything organized and tidy, it took so much effort and wasn’t quick and easy to maintain all the things. Above all, each time, we were moving again.

It was a really big wake-up call to realize that I never knew to ask if all the things actually sparked joy for me. I just held on to every single item because I felt obligated. When I heard about the KonMari Method® for the first time in the spring of 2015, my mind was blown away. “What, asking about what sparks joy and not what can be discarded?!” 🤯 That was a huge a-ha moment for me. 💡

Since then, I couldn’t stop asking myself, “Does it spark joy?” This new framework changed my way of thinking and living. I realized that working as a church pastor didn’t spark joy for me anymore. I wanted more. I wanted to have enough time to work with only a handful of people on a very deep level instead of preaching to the masses. I needed to go back to using my hands to create before and after moments. Teaching people the KonMari Method® became my calling. With it, I have the privilege of supporting people on their inner and outer healing journey as it relates to their home, and this is so deep. Above all, when my clients also have a therapist they love, and are able to make emotional connections and have the skills of reflection.

MY KONMARI® STORY

How it started…

In the spring of 2015, I first heard of Marie Kondo's book "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up." Although I already had a tidy and organized home, the unique approach of asking oneself whether items spark joy intrigued me. My whole life, I only asked myself, "Can I get rid of this?" but never, "Does it spark joy and supports the life I want to create?"

First steps…

I made my first test with my big earring collection (earrings are also part of the first category of clothes). I had collected so many pairs of earrings on my travels but wasn't wearing most of them. When I took each pair in my hands and asked myself if it sparked joy, I knew instantly which ones sparked joy and which ones had served their purpose and could leave my collection. I was so blown away by this simple method. 🤯

Getting serious about it…

2016, I did the whole KonMari® Tidying Festival and went through all five KonMari® categories: Clothes, Books, Paper, Komono (Miscellaneous), and Sentimental.

I joy-checked everything and discovered that two-thirds of what I owned didn’t spark any joy (anymore, or maybe never in the first place), but I mostly felt obligated to keep them. I didn’t want to keep living a life of obligation but of joy! So I changed my whole life!

In 2017, I even changed my profession from church pastor to Professional Organizer, using the KonMari Method® to help others create a home and life that sparks joy.

After working with many clients from 2017 to 2019, I knew I was ready to take things further. In November 2019, I officially began the process of becoming a certified KonMari® Consultant and was certified in February 2020.

In June 2024, I reached the Master Level with 1,500+ hours of one-on-one KonMari® tidying (as of 2025, I’ve at over 1,700 hours).

Certified Masters are our most experienced Consultants. They have seen it all and honed their personal technique to perfection.

What happens when you are done tidying your home?

Are you ever done? For me, the answer was — and still is — “no”, not because I'm a perfectionist (although I’m certainly a recovering one 😅). My home and even my digital belongings might be in order, but what about the other life areas?

Since I started my own KonMari® journey, I have always known that eventually I wanted to reach all the different areas of my life (holistic health, relationships, finances, spirituality, etc.).

For that exact reason, the KonMari Club was created (I wrote a blog post about it here).

In December 2020, I joined the pilot program of the KonMari Club as a founding member and was a co-creator until 2024.

In the fall of 2024, I trained as a KonMari Club Coach and began leading my own year-long KonMari Club Small Group in January 2025.

Tidying is just a tool, not the final destination. The true goal should be to establish the lifestyle you want most once your house has been put in order.
